Open up the calculator on your computer, under the start menu, then accesories.
What you have to do is convert the percentage to a decimal. What you do is take 35% and make it 0.35. Basically you take the number 35 and divide it by 100. That gives you 0.35. Then multiply that by the amount of $670 to get your final answer.

selling price (S.P)=670
cost price (C.P)= x
percentage loss = 35%
loss = cost price - selling price
formula for percentage loss = (loss/S.P) x 100
hence 35% = loss/S.P x 100
since S.P = 670
substituting 670 for S.P:
we have; (loss/670) x 100 = 35
loss = (35/100) x 670
loss = 234.5
and selling price is 270
but remember that loss = cost price (C.P) - selling price (S.P)
substitute known values we have
234.5 = C.P - 270
hence cost price (C.P) = 234.5 + 670
C.P = $904.5
the statue cost him $904.5

$670 = x (his cost) + .35x (his profit)
$670 = 1.35x
$670/1.35 = x
x = $496.296 = $496.30
