I live in CA and used to take care of my mom . The Department of Social Services here in Santa Clara County and has a program called In Home Support Services where you get qualified to take care of an aging parent. The Social Worker goes to your house and ask a few questions and evaluate the condition of you mom. Then she contacts also her primary physician. If everything turns out okay then you work for her and get paid by the county. I worked for my mom since 2000 until she passed away last year. I started like only for 10 hours a month at $6.50 and we have a union. Our union really worked for our raise. When my mom died last year, I was getting $1l.50/hr for 100 hrs. We and my daughter take alternates taking her of her . She works also for 40 hrs getting the same pay. I do not know how your State does it. We also have health benefits including vision and dental. Thanks to our local union. Call your local Department of Social Services. It is better to take care of her for a few hours if you have a full time job and ask a relative so you can share hours with her. There is nothing better than to care for a loved one.

yes there is .... is your mom on Medicaid or any other type of help from the state like disability or something if she is try talking to her case worker and see if they can help get that taken care of for you ...... if not i am sure you can go to your local family independent services and talk to one of the workers there .... it can work if she has proof that she needs 24 hour care and all she gets is bed sores from nursing homes .... just like i said try talking to a case worker or something it will work out just don't quit your job till you have figured it all out OK .... and ignore the comments about people in KY . because not all people there are like people think ..... good luck

If she goes to a nursing home. Just remember your not allowed to have ice cream in your pockets in kentuckey and your required to take a bath at least once a year in kentucky.

Why don't you just ask them if you are able to do it???? I'm sure the state can answer your questions.
