In New Zealand they had some success against SIDS. Go to this website to find out more. I wish you all the best and am sorry to hear about you loss. www.babysake.com. I would also recommend getting the book "Cures They Don't Want You To Know About." One other thing is that in the United State its illegal to say anything is a cure unless the FDA approves it first. One the babysake website they have a TV interveiw done in the United States and they say that there isn't a cure yet.

I am so sorry for the loss of your son and can totally understand your concern with your new baby. i lost my 6 week old granddaughter to sids 2 years ago this month. It is truly heartbreaking as they still dont know what causes SIDS. You can take all the steps to prevent it but it still happens. Because this is your second time around, the BEST thing to do is talk with your doctor about a home monitoring system for the baby. My daughters doctor has told her and the father that they must monitor any other child they have. Also, there are many websites with truly helpful info. such as www.sids.org and sids-network.org. Although you are frightened, just be informed about prevention and monitor your baby. Many of the women in my daughters support group have gone on to have healthy living babies. Prayers and best wishes to you!

Sids is nothing that happens from your genes...it just happens...im very sorry it had to happen to you and i hope u have learned to cope with this..The best thing to do is avoid a very soft mattress *it should be firm*,,no pillows, big covers or toys in the crib either..swaddle your baby nice and snug and place him/her on the back, never on the tummy left unattended..u could also lay him/her on there side with a light blanket supporting there back, ask the doctors to show u if your not sure...these will greatly reduce the risk for sids and im sure it wont happen again..these things happen, there horrible but nothing really would have prevented it..your baby will be ok..good luck!

I am so sorry for your loss. 8 years ago my cousin and his fiance had a baby that died from SIDS at 3 months. They went on to have two more children together, who are both alive and healthy. My cousin and his girlfriend have split up since their girls started grade school, but they now both have new babies with different people. His ex and her husband had a healthy little girl and my cousin and his wife have a very healthy little boy. I hope this eases some of your worry

I'm very sorry for the loss of your son.

Having one child die from SIDS does not up your chance of having another child die from it. Me telling you this is not going to ease your mind at all because it has happened to you once so you will no longer live in the naive world again. You need to discuss all these concerns with your Dr and the baby's Dr.

You poor thing. I am so sorry for your loss, and I understand why you'd be nervous again. As I'm sure you know, they're not really sure what causes SIDS most of the time, but they don't think it's anything genetic. I read this is all my pregnancy books. So as of what doctors know now, your chances are no higher of having it happen again. Best of luck to you, and congratulations on your pregnancy!

sids is unpredictable and i am pretty sure that it dosnt up your risk if you have had it before.
