Usually the school district blocks Myspace. This is because of what has been on the news recently. In our area 2 naive girls were harmed due to kidnapping by them talking and trying to meet with a stranger they met on Myspace. Many parents believe that Myspace is too public and don't allow their kids to go on there. So the district blocks Myspace at schools to make sure that the kids not allowed don't have an oppurtunity to get on there at school.

There are many reasons why Myspace is bad (that my district believes).

1. Teens are vulnerable due to the fact that you can meet strangers on Myspace
2. Myspace causes conflicts between people through visible and public comments other people can view (this is true and that is why Myspace now displays a warning about this fact everytime you are leaving a comment).

There are other reasons I can't recall right now but hope that helps. Different districts may have different reasons.

Schools can also legally ban any sites non-educational since they pay for their network access.

The schools don't support websites, like Myspace, because all of the controversy and online sex predators.
