Well it's not that the word gay offends me but it's sound mediocre.It's like people ran out of adjectives, and took "gay" as the new word to describe things.I know what you mean, and you probably say it without really trying to hurt anybody, but I guess some people get offended.

If its used in the right context I have no problem with the word. As a homosexual I have no problem if someone calls me gay. If however it is used as a term to express disdain toward something (....oh that is so gay), it casts the term in a negative light which aggrevates me.

The gay community is very sensitive, I guess. In other words, they are acting gay.
I know what you mean tho. my son is in 6th grade and lots of the kids say "that's so gay" and call each other gay or fag (that f word I hate) no in referring that they are homosexual but meaning stupid or an idiot.
