Why do so many people think it's necessary to insult others on ANSWERS?

Can you why explain why there is such a high proportion of those who answer or ask questions who need to respond by being just plain stupid. So many folks here repeatedly ask and answer questions thru cruel sarcasm, humor, insults, cursing, racist & sexist comments, etc.- WHY?????

Your question gave me pause, I'm guilty of it myself (cruel sarcasm, blatant stupidity) I don't about anybody else but sometimes my inner ****** just kind leaks thru my carefully constructed facade of high minded politeness and PC'ness.
%99.9 of the time I'm trying to honestly answer questiones (or ask). Sometimes I just can't help a
snarky answer.
I've seen others do it, but for the most part people on Answers are really cool, here just trying to get help or help other folks out.

I wish I could say that it is a minority but with today's society having less manners, behavior becoming more and more slack where manners have fallen by the wayside it is only naturally in those circumstances to see it mimicked on-line. It is derived from society's loose standards and relaxed behavior as well as the fact that people can remain hidden and so believe that they can say whatever they want since they can get away with behavior and not face many, if any, reprimands.

The anonymity of it all. They can be a complete A$$es on line and no one knows them for real. Skip those questions. No action in the answer column says volumes. Remember to give kudos to the good ones. Nothing thrills me more than getting that best answer letter.

Because the majority of people responding aren't intelligent enough to reply with a logical or correct answer, or a valid argument for or against the poster's question. To circumvent this, they simply answer or respond the only way their little brains know how...With snide, racist, cruel remarks.

Because it makes them feel powerful to put others down. It makes them feel better about their own lives. But if you put yourself out there in a public forum like this then you have to expect some people to be nasty and cruel. It's just the nature of the beast.

Because those type of ppl just want attention. They think they're cool and just like to start stuff (imature). They think it's funny to answer stupidly when you ask a serious question because they know that it'll get on your nerves. And they just want the extra points. You just have to overlook those ppl because if you don't then you're just giving them the attention that they want.

I think they are doing it for negative attention or shock value. But they dont realize there is nothing shocking about being ignorant. Its overdone and played out. But someone who hasnt recieved the memo will continue to be smart (or dumb) asses.

thats something I would like to know too. I get alot of stupid answers and insults for most of my questions!! I know how ya feel, I bet they say that b/c they cant think of nothing to say so they'll just say something lame and get points for it!

I would have to say that it is becasuse they are insecure about themselves. They say stupid stuff, use sarcasm, humor, insults, cursing etc because they are insecure about themselves and the things that they do.
