This bright young creative lady is bedridden and I mean flat on her back. Will be for months. Not sitting up. Ideas? :-/ I tried to get her some simple knitting but her arms got tired. She is tired of radio, movies, audiobooks, phone chats, the Internet. I need some craft and hobby ideas, please!

She DEFINITELY CAN lift and use her arms and hands, just not 100% of the time or they get very tired. :-)

I have recently tried latch hooking. I really like it. You can buy latch hooking kits at a local craft store. There are many designs like animals and flowers. I think it is a good activity for people that are bedridden because it doesn't require alot of movement and it is easy to do.

Oh that's awful, the poor thing. I think the key is variety. then as she gets tired she can change the hobby.

Learning a language through audio tapes may be a good one though. Intellectually challenging and very useful. I suggest starting with one of the Michel Thomas courses in CD rom I think he does French, Spanish and German.

Best wishes to her though, I hope her recovery is as speedy as possible.

That's tough. She needs something that exercises whatever she can exercise even if it does make her tired.
Could she do anything with food, like make cookies?
Maybe some clay sculpture.
How about wire artwork? Get some wire jewelry and have her copy them using pliers. There's probably books on the subject. She could set up a display and sell them next to her bed.

Why don't you write about your experience. You should be able to get up and about with crutches even if you don't use that leg at all so I don't think you need to make long term plans. Most of those stitching things produce items that have limited appeal.

All of Greeneyed's suggestions look good but how about weaving? They have little lap looms or she could even try Monk's cloth. Or how about rubber stamping? She could make pretty cards or stationary and then write to people on it. :o) Also, she could try crochet but keep it small and learn how to make Granny Squares. That way she gets a bunch of small projects that merge to make a larger one.
