People either get better as they age, or get worse. Some people get smarter, sharper, wiser...others get dumber, duller, more peevish. My impression is that those who never really figured out why they are here, tend to get more stupid with age because everything they haven't faced starts to catch up with them and it requires being pretty dopey to continue to ignore it all...

I think it was Mark Twain who said he left home at 17 because his old man was just so dumb... and was amazed at how much smarter he seemed to be when Mark returned home when he was 25... Every day can be a learning experience if you can learn, a mind and a parachute both work a lot better when they are open, not closed... I am headed for the big 5-0 this year and I still learn something occasionally. So I think we tend to get smarter and wiser as we get older... unless we are using drugs (they call it DOPE for a reason you know...) or alcohol excessively...

Let me see, I am older now. I think I am getting smarter. At age 50, I bought a $3000 computer, played games and tinkered around print shop. 9 years later, with my $500 PC and have LEARNED to do all kinds of stuff, genealogy, photos, scanning, cut+paste, answering intriguing questions ( and actually have 10% BEST ANSWERS). No, I don't think people get stupid as they get older, as long as they are using their minds.

you see when a person gets older. he or she is not totally able to adapt to the changes around him or her. the changes can be anything like technology, economy, fashion, tastes & preferences etc etc..
there are some who criticize the young generation whereas some encourage them to go ahead. this problem is specially more in eastern countries like india, and muslim countries.
the fact is that everybody loves their own time or generation. what i mean to say is, suppose when i get old, like in my 60's or 70's, i will start lecturing others that my time was fantastic and the best
age is no barrier, it's how people think about their environment.
like my mom always says that in her time there were no computers and she used to spend her free time reading books and all that. that seems stupid to us who are using computers today to chat with friends. they (i.e. my mom and other older people) don't like this idea of spending long hours with a machine.

i think some do. For example-if you take classes and continue your education, find a job that challenges you, NO. Then again- if you drop out of high school get a loser bf or gf and spend your life living on ramen noodles and weed and saying the phrase "would you like fries with that", YES. Do you see what I'm trying to say here.

Honestly, you might be onto something there. I am twenty-nine years old right now but I believe that I hit my intellectual apex when I was around twelve years old, right before puberty. I think that sex changes everything. Maybe when I'm to old to do it I will regain some of that intellect that I seem to be sorely missing at the moment.

More stupid? You're implying people are already stupid and you're wondering if you'll get "more stupid" the older you get? I think you have already answered your own question. Sorry bud.

Yes! I absolutely agree. I think as we are young we do try alot harder to do the right thing and somewhere down the line we lose our innocence and begin more frequently to get away with alot more.
