What ever you do and whatever experience you think you may have by no means should you attempt to open a hard drive. The slightest particle of dust would ruin the disk.
The only way to recover the files is to have a sterile room and years of experience with hard drive manipulation. Even then it may be impossible to recover ex: if you cracked the actual disk.
If your lucky you just damaged the reading needle and that can be replaced by someone with the proper tools.
If you really don't care about whats on there then just throw it away and buy a new one. May i recommend eBay for cheap hard drives? make sure you buy it new though.

You can try hooking it up to another computer as a slave drive and see if it's still possible to make an image of the HDD and see if you can pull any data off of it. If that isn't possible, you'd have to contact data recovery specialists, which can be pretty pricey.

As the other poster said, you would have to purchase a new HDD.

You will have to take it to an expert to see if its possible to save any files you may want, otherwise I think you need a new one!
