As a woman & somewhat of a feminist I actually agree with you to an extent. However you men (most of you) also want your women to look like supermodels. You cant have it both ways. So called beautiful women have life handed to them on a silver platter. They dont have to improve themselves to get huge amounts of male attention so they don't.

Well, I know many women that can cook from scratch, sew, knit, etc. I'm not one...rather I chose to pursue both a career and education leaving me not much time to cook...spitting in general is unladylike and I don't know any (at least those possessing some semblance of manners) that do...I'm sure they smoked then just as some smoke now (but you do realize that smoking is on the decline overall, right?)...what does beautiful handwriting have to do with anything? And for the most part, women of the 1800s were totally repressed, obeyed every direction of their husband (and not to mention, chose to hide it if she were being abused, or looked the other way if her husband was out screwing other women). Not the kind of lifestyle I would want for myself. I'm not masochistic.

Yeah...go to Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan or numerous other repressive countries where women have no rights.Or stay with your mother or grandmother. Or make enough money to support a woman so all she has time to do is the things you mentioned.I think you may be confusing "ladylike" with "slavish".Personally, I think the spitting think is gross. But why should gross behavior only be taboo for women?? My husband and I are equals and both choose to do whatever we want but compromise on MOST issues and we both like it that way. Go get a mail-order bride or a maid or something.

Well, the only things on your list that apply to me are the swearing( I do), and I cannot knit.
However....
I'll bet contemporary women would be willing to learn and change to do the things you listed if you could earn them their bread, build their house, give them children, take care of their livestock and plant their fields... AFTER you learned how to be a Gentleman.
Young guys ask inflammatory questions like this and then wonder why the "War of the Sexes" goes on....
Good luck.

Cook from scratch? Your knowledge of history is somewhat flawed. Cooks, that is, servants, cooked. Those with beautiful handwriting were ladies, and kept servants (even if their income was low, they would rather starve than cook and clean). It was usual to start with three: a cook, a parlor maid, and a char-woman. Parlor maid sew... Ladies did embroidery and trimmed their hats... And drew, and played piano. They did not work, so the husband paid for servants, dresses, silk threads to do embroidery and so on...
They did not smoke then, they sniffed tobacco and kept beautiful bejeweled tobacco boxes, for which the husband paid.
So, what is your problem? Hire three servants, new furniture to a sitting room, new clothes, and the wonderful lady will happen... To hand write beautifully and tell servants what to do.

I think there is a decline in general. In england, which is associated as beeing the birth place of chivralty, marriage has been in a steep decline for the past 10 years, which essentially means men have no interest in a women beyond banging them and nexting them. So it works 2 ways both genders are loosing interest in giving the other what it wants at the same time trying to get out of the opposite what they want without giving.
Up your nose if I would learn to knit, would you pay my my house tax the assicuration for my ferrari and my cabel tv ? No ? Thought so...

Your affliction has a simple name; "mother-hangup"....which is just one of the underlying causes of male-chauvinism.
Not only are you looking for a mother-figure, you can't cope with the idea of a 3 dimensional human to share your life with, but instead, you're attatched to the deceptive ideals of a one dimensional character from a fairy-tale. Put her on a pedestal and defy her humanity. Super.
And just for the record, we really can't stand when you spit either. It's vile...not manly.

How about men doesn't swear and chivalry was second nature to them?
You are talking about the time when women were always inferior to men, they are expected to stay at home and cook and clean. Time is changing, no surprise that women are learning to be independent and do what they want.
Women also want men who can cook, sew, write well etc. Where can we find them?

Here I am! : ) I can do all that and then some. There are more of us than you think. But, first we need a man who can make enough money so that we have time to do all that. Don't you think they're on the decline?
