My computer freezes (picture and sound). I suspect that the problem is memory (RAM). I heard that I can test it using some programs. Please tell me were can I get such a freeware program. My next option is to buy new RAM.
Thank you

Eliminate any possibility of a virus problem firstly
I dont think any diagnostic software will be able to help you
I'm sure you have a ram shortage if your computer runs normally exept when you open to many programs or try to use a memory eating program. If your computer is running xp and has anything less than 512mb i recommend a ram upgrade
make sure that when you upgrade you take into account the

pin number ex:240pins
ddr2 or ddr
I recommend installing in identical pairs, for some computers this is unnecessary, but tests have show a system preforms better with identical pairs instead of just one stick ex:(512x2) better than (1024x1)
here is a good site to give you the specifics on the ram you need

If your running xp i recommend 1gig (1024mb) if you have the money.

I don't know. May not be your RAM. PC's freeze when there are too many processes going on and the computer can't keep up. Scan your machine first and make sure there is nothing weird on it like adware or spyware. This is a much cheaper route than buying RAM and may help better. If you see you computer having many memory dumps then your RAM is definately bad. Hope this helps.

Hi,
This sounds like a heat problem, try cleaning your P.C with a soft 2 inch brush first and get all the dust out (don't forget the power supply), at the same time unclip the Memory and clean the connector with a soft rubber (it get all the muck off) then refit it back.Hope this helps.

I agree with The Syko Ward, I would run scandisk before thinking about more ram.
