what i mean by short term effects are the ones that are predicted by scientists, something that would come out of a science textbook, which i would happen not to have.

We don't know.

The local weather can't be accurately predicted more than a week in advance. We can't predict El Niño, which has more impact on global weather than 'global warming' ever will. And we definitely can't predict what will happen with the whole world's weather in the future, because we have no useful data of a similar event in the past.

Short term effects - wait and see.

But if I was to guess to at least give you a useful answer, which is all anyone can do - increased flooding of low-lying land, more calving of icebergs, and less snow in winter.
