How do you combine pictures so they overlap?

I have a need to create a single picture from two, so that they overlap and make one. An example is below.

Just minus the text. I want to be able to take one picture and overlap another.

familiarize yourself with photoshop and u sould get along with it easily.
by the way--> i don't know which program you intend to use but know that the tool to fade out the edges of an image is called "feather"

in photohop CS2 file > automate > photomerge
