Everyone picks Wolverine or Gambit or Nightcrawler... heck, the women pick Rogue or Storm for the most part.
I always pick Iceman when this question pops up.
The reason why I always pick Iceman is because he reminds me so much of me, he's one cool hero (pun intended), and he's the classic class clown of the X-men!

Gambit is number one in my books, has been since Uncanny X-men 266 (his 1st appearance). Wolverine is in second with Stormy nipping at his heals.

In the movies, Cyclops, because he is a team player and has established himself as the team leader.
In the comics, Colossuss. Peter is way more stronger and powerful in his amored form than movies portrayed him.

Cyclops as he is a battle team leader, he got a beautiful car, powerful bike, postgraduate in many courses, handsome serious look, and a lovely girlfreind that cheats him!

Nightcrawler- He looks cool, can teleport up to about 3 miles, can become almost invisible in shadows(in the comics), has crazy acrobatic abilities, and is a Christian.
