Um, neither is correct. The Iliad ends with the funeral of Hektor, the lamentations of the women in his life (wife, mother, sister-in-law) and a speech by Zeus. The Odyssey opens with a council of the gods.
The Trojan Horse episode isn't discussed until Book 8 of the Odyssey, when Odysseus asks Demodocus to tell the story of the former's role in the Trojan Horse story.

The Trojan horse story is not the end of the Iliad, but it is the decisive move that leads to the Greeks winning the war. The Odyssey begins when Odysseus and his men leave Illium (Troy) and starts heading towards Greece. They have a huge amount of trouble and strange adventures before they get home, of course.
Somewhere there is a quote "Beware of Greeks bearing gifts." It should have been "Beware of gifts bearing Greeks."

I think it ends when they actually torch Troy and leave. Then the Odyssey begins.

Why don't you read it and find out? It's a pretty good story, Edith Hamilton's "Mythology" is an easy read and not that long (I read it in a day.)
