The most important part in choosiing a bat is make sure it is comfortable for you. To choose a weight that might be right take a bat, holding it with one hand extend your arm out all the way beside you. You should be able to hold it for 20 - 30 seconds. If you find it is too difficult to maintain that length of time, the bat will be too heavy for you. If it is too easy, the bat will be too light. When you find one that is just right, you will find that it will give you the right combination of bat speed to get around on a pitch, but also enough power to hit it out of the park.

I would go with your favorite team's hat. I see that you are an Oakland fan, so you might try to get an A's hat. If you don't have the hat that they wear on a regular basis for home games, then get the road hat, or the alternate hats. If you don't want those, then you could get the hats with an individual player's name on it. There should be a good number of hats at the mall, and you could just take your pick there, or try the A's website. There should be plenty of hats there, and you don't even have to leave the comfort of your own home. Good luck.
