It's supposed to be the pitch that Daisuke Matzusaka on the Red Sox throws. It's supposed to be the next pitch that revolutionizes baseball. When he throws the ball, it come over like a normal change up or curve ball, but right when it gets to the hitter it tails off 3 feet! This pitch was supposedly designed by Japanese scientists just for this pitcher. When I say supposedly, this means that only a few people claim to have seen it. We'll se if he can actually throw this pitch over the course of the season. Hope this helps.

A gyroball can be a changeup/slider. It is a pitch used by Daisuke Matsuzaka.

According to Mike Adams on WEEI sportsradio in Boston, in reality it's a cut fastball, but there is now a legend so if someone strikes out to Matsuzaka, it was on the gyroball.
And if any moronic Yankee fans want to say "Hideki Irabu" just remember who has been throwing the cut fast ball for the Yankees for years.
