I ask because several people seem not to like knitted baby clothes, and I wanted to see what people on YA had to say.

I would let her do it. Ask her to knit an afghan to match the baby's room colors. This would make this elderly lady very happy. She would feel like she was doing something special to contribute to this special time in your life. Must people like hand made blankets etc.

I would jump at the offer. There is nothing like a new born baby in hand knitted clothes. Say yes please and make someone very happy. The first thing my mum does when she hears another grandchild is one the way is to get the knitting needles out!!

It sounds like a good swap to me, but I'd want to see the knitting BEFORE I handed the baby over

Knitted jackets are a Godsend if you don't have much money. Babies certainly don't care what they are wearing , they just like to be warm. I had loads of knitted jackets and hats, from all sorts of people, and elderly ladies love to knit them.

I would take them just to be nice and smile and say thanks. I don't like knit anything, but It's rude to turn down something someone gives you like that. Especially if they spent all that time on it.

If your not keen and dont want to offend her? Tell her your baby has a skin reaction to that particular fibre.
