I thinks that it's too difficult for you to vote for a Best Answer now, but it is really true that if you want a free antivirus than Avast is better than Avg because if the virus is detected Avg then the Avg free edition don't always clean your file, it just move it to it's rescue portion, but Avast is better for that work, although Avast is more user friendly than Avg.
And another thing is that when you open a website on your computer Avg does not scans the temporary files for any Trojan, but when you use Avast it also scans the temporary files, it means all the outgoing and incoming data is scanned so you are more safe than using Avg.
Finally
AVG - 8/10
AVAST - 9/10

it's all a matter of opinion i guess , avg has a 100% detection rate in the last 2 year competition . avg updates everyday , the updates are automatic , avg heals far more virus attacks then avast . i use avg , have for over 2 years and still virus free

Avira is lots extra useful than the different 2 it could not look stylish yet its the wonderful in detecting viruses. I surely have been making use of Avast, it slows down the computing device, asks for updates and takes time to examine. the only good component approximately Avast is that it has an outstanding information superhighway shield, yet at situations that's stressful too. i desire to propose Avira.

Both of them are real great challenges 4 threats-- i mean both of them r good.
But, AVG 7.5 may prove a slightly better than AVAST because as i know it has script blocking and a strong virus alert system.
The Editor's review also rank it well.

Avg is a very poor AV program - I have never used Avasti.
I use Nod32 - A very good AV program, if I was to use a free AV program then I would use the free one by AOL.
AOL AV program is Kaspersky.

Of the two AVG. The superior to both might be AntiVir by Antivest. All three are free for personal usage.
