1. Detroit Pistons have the best chance since they've been there before, they have veterans who have played in the playoffs many times and they're the best team in the East.
2. Washington Wizards with their three-headed giant (Arenas, Jamison, Butler) have the second best chance since LeBron can't do it all himself anymore.
3. If Dwyane Wade returns, Miami will have a good shot at repeating even if they do play the Mavs again.

Pistons are the odds on favorite, but I see an unexpected underdog getting in, like maybe the Cavs or Wizards, or even the Raptors or Bulls.
Reason being the Pistons, while good, are not overwhelmingly amazing like they were in '04, or like the Lakers in '01-'03, or like the Bulls in the 90s, or like the Spurs for the past 10 years. There are certain teams that are great (those teams I just mentioned), and some that are just really good. I think the Pistons are on the upper cusp of the 'really good' category.
Too bad any of them will get crushed by the Spurs/Mavs.

I see the Heat in the finals especially if Wade comes back and miami sneeks in the playoff at number 6 or 7. they would actually be taking a short cut to the Easter Finals especially avoiding the Pistons in the first two rounds. Pistons in trouble now the Heat beat them last night too. Its Going Down!

good question, yet i'm going to assert no. He could make any good team from the East a contender, yet i'm going to offer you an occasion. Jason Kidd in 2002-03 reached the NBA Finals in his first year with the recent Jersey Nets, yet he did no longer win MVP honors (it went to Tim Duncan). WHY? He gave them the appropriate record and replaced right into a an fairly effectual participant. it fairly is because of the fact the East replaced into susceptible (as you're asserting) and Tim Duncan performed effectively against sturdy communities against the Lakers (Shaq and Kobe) and Mavericks (Dirk).

detroit pistons. except the departure of big ben, they have the nucleus of their championship winning team intact. they're experienced and have the right mix. they've also added c-webber for more depth.
it's only the heat that perhaps can give them a run for their money. but since d-wade is injured, miami is more hard pressed to make it to the finals.

I think it will be either Detroit or the Bulls. Both good but I don't think any team in the east can win the finals. That will be either the Mavs or Phoenix. I think it will be the Mavs this year.
