He is f**l of the first water. How a player (himself) can act like this? I am highly disgusted with the episodes: Irfan sent back from SA tour, Sachin made the VC, Jafar was picked up for ODI against SA, Irfan was seduced on fitness, Munaf was demoralised on the same pretext, discussed the entire selection sop in public. What he wants? What are his intentions? Is he trying to unsettle Dravid and make Tendulkar the captain? Why is he against Kumble and Laxman. HE seems to have his hatred list of players and is picking up his preys one after the other.
Should not he resign as chief selector (having an imbalance mind)?

it is not fair at all.see the selection chief has to decide who all should be selected.the captain just gives some suggestions.the final decision has to be taken by the selectors.and if he had selected him he should have kept quiet about it.BCCI chiefs had said that it wasn't good on sourav's part to talk about things which happened in the dressing room with the media then why did he disclose this???
it seems as if he wants to make sure that he isn't blamed for selecting sehwag in the team if he doesn't perform....but i am sure the players will get over it.Dravid isn't such a person who will worry about these small issues.and sehwag will fire in the world cup and then dilip will have to say that it was because of dravid that they selected sehwag and that proved to be a very good decision........he will have to thank dravid for it..

I think Vengaskar had no choice but to explain the reasons behind Sehwag's inclusion in the team. It's a risk but it's a calculated risk. The other probables are far behind Sehwag in batting and bowling. You can't take a player only on the basis of his Superior fielding. Mind you Sehwag is not a bad fielder either. I'm sure that he will come back to his form during the tournament.

Indian players have some problem. Once they reach the top, they forget their job. Money comes through sponsorships and they think that there is no need to play anymore. The BICC formula for compensation of players was not correct and so they used to get money even if they do not play.
Ganguly was so overconfident and a shock treatment made him somewhat alright. Tendulkar is failing continuously, not because he is not capable but because he does not put his full mind into it. Sehwag was doing fine and of late - after his marriage- stopped taking risky chances in the game. People like Vengsarkar should definitely criticise such players. The players should not forget their accountability to the Nation and its name which they carry when they go out. They have to put their full energy for safeguarding the prayers of the millions in the name of patriotism.
If they cannot , they should get out. It should be as simple as that.
Patan also was going in that line.
Wake up Players, you have to uphold the wishes of all Indians. Come back from West Indies with the World Cup. We will forget everything and keep you on our heads.

No , it would have been better if Vengsarkar had remained quiet or if Sehwag hadn't been selected at all. If Sehwag has been selected , what gain does Vengsarkar gets for making this disclosure ?

Vengsarkar is unnecessarily creating contraversy by giving provioking statements
Vengsarkar is not supposed to disclose these things unnecessarily creating contraversy by giving crap statement. Why chief selector is disclosing the selection board meeting details in public that too team had already reached the WI. Why he was silent for so long?? If sehwag scores runs Vengasarkar will take credit himself or he will say It is b’cuz of dravid.
this board and selection committe is not supporting captain or team. Someone made public Desia's report in goan newspaper and vengsarkar after selecting pathan asked to proved the fitness that too through media. he has come up with one more provocative statement to create more confusion and pressure among the players. Selector and some ppl from board are not supporting captain and some players. But are constantly trying to create controversies and confusion and pressure
Media always unfair to dravid as captain and batsman. Stat tells defferent story Indian captain Rahul Dravid emerged the clear winner and polled the maximum 97 per cent of the votes while his newly-appointed deputy and former Indian captain Sachin Tendulkar got 95.3 per cent votes. ( Times. Of India)
There is lot criticism about dravid’s captaincy among ind media and cricket expert and fans , Dravid name was nominated and shortlisted for ICC captain of year award with mahila, vaghuan, ponting the average of winning odis is better than any other captain and also dravid did not loose any home series. Statistics show that the 'Wall' is India's most successful One-day captain among all those who have captained India in at least 20 matches.

When dravid appointed as captain India was ranked 8th ICC ranking now after 16 months it is moved to no 5th.
This is time to support the team. Best of luck to team india

NO. It is not fair. He(Vengsarkar) is openly showing his displeasure about inclusion of Sehwag by Dravid. He should have kept his discontent private.

well vengsarkar told the fact what is behind sehwag's selection, lot of people wants to know it,becoz sehwag is out of form recently,so obviously people had the doubt on his selection, that's why vengsarkar opened up,so this issue is settled and no need to be controversial on the matter.

It is fair that he disclosed it. Now that it might give him a little morale boost for sehwag. But this is also a warning to the other players that they are closely watched. I also appreciate Dravid's confidence in his teammates. Its all left to sehwag to prove his worth. Well, GOOD LUCK TEAM INDIA.
