I'd say it's in its early stages right now.
The "West" vs. the "East"
No one will be victorious.
Because of greed, but religious ideology will become the motivating factor.

If your talking of a massive scale war, then it would have to involve the U.S., China and/or Russia these are the only countries that have the potential for a bloody and long World War. Sure North Korea, Iran, Britain, France, Germany, Japan, Israel and South Korea etc. might be involved but all these countries have somewhat insignificant militaries compared to the 3 major ones already stated. I would like to believe the United States would emerge on the victorious side since we tend to value the best things, but it could actually be China (if not on our side) at the rate it's economy and military are advancing. The War could start over so many issues ranging from an Israeli nuclear strike on Iran, to a Chinese attempt to secure Taiwan, to conflict over limited resources (such as oil or water in the future). Lets hope such a war never comes, considering a lot of these countries I mentioned have enough nuclear capacity to send the entire world into nuclear winter where human deaths will be incomprehensible...

It has already begun. Its going to be Us vs Venezuela, Iran, Taliban, Alkida (sp) Pakistan, North Korea,China. Japan and Britain might help us but they especially (Japan) will try to stay out of it. no one will win. We will destroy more then imaginable. This will change the way we know the world today. We do not have the means to win this war. We are out numbered. Plus these countries come together to wipe us off the face of the earth.

I know for a fact that USA would participate in it and obviously other countries as well. It will most likely be USA versus China, or USA versus the Middle East.
