EVERY baby should be celebrated. People tend to get hung up on the whole "Only one baby shower" thing....because they equate baby showers with GIFT GIVING!! Sure, the mom gets presents....but, more imporatantly, she is showered with LOVE for her new baby and growing family!!
So....I say put as much on there as you can afford.
Better yet....have a diaper cake made customized just to her little baby and place a gift card in with the cake!!! I happen to make customized diaper cakes that match the shower theme or baby's nursery decor. FIll it with all those neccesities every parent needs.....gas drops, infant tylenol, teething gel, Lullabye CD, pacifiers, Stuffed Animal Topper, receiving blankets. All designed to match that theme you requested!!
Just an idea.
Oh....I make diaper cakes!! Check out my site if you like. I do great work, work quickly, and can ship ANYWHERE!!

As a mom to 3 children, I wouldn't spend more than $30 on a gift card unless the second baby is the opposite sex of the first. If they are the same sex, mom has almost everything she will need already. I have a 17yo son and two daughters 5 and 6 and I asked specifically for my friends not to spend a lot when my second daughter was born. When my first daughter was born I asked that they be frugual in their spending too, but I don't like others spending alot of money.

I did not think that you had second baby showers. So I would not spend much at all. I am on my 2nd child and I did not think it was fair to my friends to have another baby shower.. even with my children being 5 yrs apart. So I am thinking maybe 25 dollars on the card. I have bought everything on my own this time around. Good luck.

My best friend got married and just had a baby boy. she has a 5 year old little girl, but never had a shower for her. I gave her a pretty substantial gift, but we are extremely close. I think of her as a sister so my gift reflected that. That and it was her first shower and she had NOTHING for her baby, as she got rid of all her baby stuff.
But if the person still has all the stuff from the first shower, you need not spend as much. It varies with every situation.

It depends what you can afford, how far apart the children are in age and the sex of the two children.
If it has been a few years or the child is a girl and she already has a boy, I would treat it the same as if it was the first babyshower and give a $100 gift.
I haven't had any really good friends get pregnant but when I do I'm sure I will splurge, even on their subsequent children. Pamper the mom- she is your friend, how about a massage or a mani/pedi?

well it all depends. does she need alot of stuff? most ppl dont have 2nd baby showers unless the kids are very spaced apart. my kids were 5 years apart but i still felt it would be tacky to have a 2nd shower...bc the first time around ppl spent alot of $ so i didnt feel it would be right to ask them to do that agian. but if you 2 are really close and she doesnt have anything left from her 1st baby, i would do whatever you can afford, maybe $50 or more if you have the $. but if she really doesnt need much and still has alot of baby stuff, maybe like $20-25 max.

Considering you're only "supposed" to have 1 baby shower, I would throw $25 on there.

I wouldn't go above $50 if you can afford that much. There are always baby sales.
