Good question! Vista was developed from existing XP and Windows 2003 Server software with a few extras thrown in, such as:
- Improved security features- mainly for business user- BitLocker
- More control and restrictions over what gets installed on your computer from the Internet- better backup features (not Basic version)
- Improved search capabilities so you can find your own files.
- 3D graphics capabilities in Premium & Ultimate with the ability to display your content on a wide screen & two monitors
- Better use of RAM memory with Superfetch & the ability to add interim memory with a USB Flash drive & use ReadyBoost
- More intrusion by Microsoft, less by their competitors
- The ability to spy on your own kids (not- nice)
In short, I suppose we will just have to get used to it since it will replace all their other desk top operating systems soon. No earth shattering but an improvement. If anything, Microsoft is picking up on old software apps. Kind of like Sears that does not create a demand- just fills it. I sure hope it doesn't further stunt some great new software developments. I liked the old days when wordprocessing, spreadsheets, desktop publishing and the Internet were fresh & exciting. This like eating vanillla pudding.
All the best.

It copied some stuff from a MAC, but overall it's pretty cool. It's tough to really put in words, but here goes. It explore new features for searching, staying connected, networking, syncing devices, and managing files on your computer. Web feeds, tabbed browsing, and always-available search are just a few of the new features available in Internet Explorer. The parental control is a lot better also. Windows Media Center in Windows Vista includes enhancements for expanded support of digital and high-definition cable TV, an improved menu system, and the ability to create a consumer-electronics-quality living-room experience, as well as new options for multi-room access to your entertainment through Media Center Extenders, including Microsoft Xbox 360.
I must say that although some software isn't compatible with Windows Vista I'm sure within the next couple of months everything will be on track. I actually like it.

I think the use of more memory is the most interesting feature. Superfetch is an expansion of Prefetch in Windows XP which seems to be working quite nicely fetching up my graphics programs and running several applications at once. When I find my machine is a bit sluggish when I am loading big maps and zooming I use my USB flash drive with Vista ReadyBoost. I am using Premium with 2GB but would like to see what more would do. Cheers

There is nothing in vista that you can't down load for free or real cheap. Plus, if you do music or video of any kind the digital rights managment will give you fits. Down load music- you better have a license for it or it wont play right or play at all.Stick with XP and build on it instead. Jeeze they just got the bug's worked out.

there is not any such issue as a lite version of Vista. Do you advise the efficient factors are literally not enabled? if so, flow to regulate Panel then courses and efficient factors, and also you are able to turn living house windows efficient factors on and stale, jointly with such issues as video games.

Using Internet Explorer, go to www.microsoft.com and read all about it. Other browsers, like Firefox, don't work very well on this site, because Firefox doesn't use ActiveX controls.
Firefox is safer to use as your default web browser for exactly the same reason. ActiveX is dangerous!
