Destiny I suppose. If shama(fire or to be more apt candle) had free will it would have loved to live eternally for the patanga (fly) and sake with the patanga it would have loved to continue living for the patanga. But I guess it is destined otherwise. And that has given shayars (peot) huge chances to write couplets ater couplet

Shama and Patanga are both made for burnning .
They both are clever and know that one who is created has to meet death.

every living being has to perish someday, that's the rule of our lives. poets have given it a more romantic angle that's all. its like a fly is taking a gamble of his life by going towards the fire even though the fly knows its dangerous. a fly is attracted towards light & that brings forth destruction for it.
