Choose the team and explain why...

If I had to choose one, I would say Buffalo. They were very close last year, 20 minutes away from it, and have built from that into a much tougher team to play against. New Jersey has a shot if Brodeur plays well, but I don't see him stopping that offense in Buffalo. Yeah, definitely Buffalo. Atlanta doesn't have the depth to go that far, nor the experience. Tampa Bay is not as strong as they were a couple years back when they won it all. Pittsburgh is a good team, but they are not quite there yet to go all the way, give them a couple years to gain experience and they can do damage. No one else really stands a chance. Ottawa always chokes in the playoffs, so why should this year be any different for them? Everyone else is struggling just to make the playoffs, Carolina, New York Islanders, Montreal, Toronto, New York Rangers, they will be ripe for the picking for anyone in the first round because they are in a dog fight to make the playoffs, so whoever gets the last two spots out of these teams is going to be easy pickings for the likes of Buffalo and New Jersey in the first round (Toronto might, might, get an upset over Buffalo if they make it, but definitely not New Jersey). So, in conclusion, I would have to say Buffalo has the advantage in the East.

I think the Penguins are very capable of making it deep. They have a young, high-powered offence, and have just added some expirience with Roberts and Laraque. And when you have the youngest player to reach 200 points, you are definetly a contender in the playoffs. I would even pick them as a Stanley cup winner.

Buffalo, they have the greatest offense in the NHL, so many strong players, and they play amazingly well together. As soon as Chris Drury recovers, all will be well(although they play great without him too). There is even talk that Paul Gaustad may come back late into the playoffs!

It will not be any of those teams. The pitiful Boston Bruins have beat up on the Sabers a few times and that was without there great pickups. I could see Ottawa but there is no clear cut candidate. Maybe Atlanta.

Likely the Sabres. Only Montreal can match their speed, and unfortunately (as a Habs fan) I don't think Monreal will make the playoffs at this rate.

Ottawa...Redden and solid goal-tending will make the difference. it will be a great playoff run this year..Lots of upsets will occur because the playoffs are a new season and the best teams will have a tough time..

the sabres, not just because they are on top of the whole league, but because they want it so bad. they play with all they have every nite and i dont think they'll quit till theyve won...who knows maybe they will just keep getting better and better???? they've got awesome lines even with all the amerks playing with them, and a killer goalie, and the addition of zubrus is just another plus. i think he is going to bring alot to the team.
