somebody is fooling somebody. there are actually people that beleive that they are the same. It's all about propaganda and it has worked very effective on some people. Fortunately, it doesn't work on the majority.

Before we invaded, Iraq was not part of that war. Saddam had Islamic extremists under control. Now that he is gone, American has created a jihadi magnet called Iraq, and made it part of the broader war on terror. No one can deny that Al Qaeda has created a sanctuary in Iraq and Iraq is being used to train and recruit terrorists. The Taliban in Afghanistan admitted that they work with the mujaheddin in Iraq. The also said they exchange fighters regularly for between both wars. It is true that we are fighting terror in both Iraq and Afghanistan. If we won in Iraq, we would not win the war on terror. If we won in Afghanistan we would not win the war on terror. That will be a generational worldwide operation where victory would be seen as real peace between the Middle East and the West.

No, winning the war on terror is not the same as winning in Iraq or Afghanistan. If it was, we wouldn't be at war right now. We won the "war" in both Afghanistan and Iraq. In both countries, the ruling group was overthrown and "democratic" elections were held to form new governments. Today, we are battling to defend those governments. The war on terror is a general term that gives the federal government broad power to declare and execute military and police action against what is really several widely dispersed criminal organizations. Individual rights and national boundaries are sometimes blurred by the same declaration.

Iraq and Afghanistan are only battles in the war on terror. You can spin it any way you want. You can forget 9/11 ever happened. You can hitch your wagon to the conspiracy kooks and blame Bush, the Jews, Haliburton, Cheney or anyone you like. The bottom line is this. This is a horrible, terrible enemy that is hellbent on subjugating everyone under Shira Law.

They do not want to negotiate. You have nothing to negotiate with. They demand everyone convert to their 7th century version of radical Islam or die.

I know, especially for young people who live in peace and in secure societies and have liberty and opportunity this seems so remote as to be ridiculously impossible. It isn't. When you have people who hate you more than they love their own children or even life itself, you had better pay attention.

This is a generational war. It will still be waging long after president Bush is gone, long after the next two or three presidents are gone. The American troops who will die fighting this enemy and the American troops who will ultimately be victorious haven't even been born yet.

There is a very dark cloud on the horizon. It is still a ways off. But it is much closer than it was and not as close as it will be. You, your children and your children's children will be dealing with this enemy. The sooner you get serious about defeating them, the sooner you get serious about defending this great country of ours the less of a problem will have to be dealt with later.

You are incorrect in your assertions but I won't even waste time explaining why. Regardless of who started the latest battle the war was started against us long ago. There are terrorists everywhere even here in America. They watch, they wait and eventually if we don't stop them first they will act.

Foolish people attack and condemn the Patriot Act as the worst thing that has ever happened to our rights. They attack those who are trying desperately to protect you. They waste time and effort on nonsense like global warming and fur coats. They remind me of the people polishing the silver on the Titanic. They are working hard but what they are working on could not be more irrelevant.

Afghanistan is where the Arabian terrorists that we are looking for are hiding. In fact, Bin Laden hasn't been allowed to set foot inside of Saudi Arabia for some time now. They think he's too radical.

Iraq has nothing to do with this. It has more to do with controlling the political situation in an area that is oil rich.

You are fooling yourself. You aren't getting the whole picture. You accepting the one sided liberal side and they don't tell the whole story. We went to Iraq to get Saddam out. That was done. His supporters started murdering people and that's why we are still there. We bombed Afghanistan and killed Ben Lauden who made up the whole 9-11 thing and got it started by using his money to pay for the terrorist to complete the 9-11 hijacking. The war on terror is unwinable but we can keep killing the terrorists and that's just right down fun. The more we kill the dumber they get for lack of knowledge.

The main reason the war was taken to Iraq is the fact that key members of Al-Qaeda was and still is there. This has been proven time and again as we have killed several of them IN Iraq!

"the war in Afghanistan?" Yes. The Taliban high-jacked the country and gave sanctuary to Al-Q.

"the war in Iraq?" No. It has made matters far worse.

I think the terrorists were "unearthed" 40 years ago. And until 9-11, they silently infiltrated other nations. And then attacked ours.

Iraq might not have been my choice, but radical Islam needed to be put down. And lets face it, Saddam is indefensible. He was giving the world the finger.

Are you suggesting that you prefer to be at war in Saudi Arabia? Because I think that is amazing.

No, winning the war on terror means that we get the current administration and all those in government who support them OUT of power.
