I don't remember ever being too close to them because growing up, I felt like they favoured my older sister and compared the two of us a lot. I have an okay relationship with them now though.

Yes. As the oldest of three girls, it was a VERY competative household BUT my parents were very diplomatic and they saw that each daughter had different talents and saw us as individuals. At least you have a relationship w/ them now, some people hold such a grudge against their parents that they've stopped speaking to them. No matter how angry we get, they're still our biggest supporters and their love doesn't come w/ a price. If it's still bothering you, you should talk to them about it. I bet they didn't even know they were doing the comparative thing.

When I was growing up, no. Once I reached 30, though I started looking at them in a whole different light.
My Dad and I are now very close.

My mom and I made our peace before she passed away 9 years ago; never really got along too well. Haven't seen my 'real' dad since I was 16, but my stepdad and I are pretty good friends. He lives about 8 hours away, but we talk on the phone a lot.

I'm close with my mom i think that my dad should just go screw a monkey, but me and my dad get along sometimes, and when we do it's fun. But they do favor my sister and im being the better adult and don't tell my dad when she hits me over my head witht hings and i have head problems and going to doctors. But when i do th\e littlest things, i get it trouble, it sucks

Yes. For a while during college and for a few years afterwards we weren't that close, but now we talk almost everyday.

I've very close to my mother. I am an only child, and my father died when I was 10, so Mom and I have always been close.
