No. Everyone is different.

It really depends.

I know that in the lesbian community, particularly the butch-femme lesbian community, they are very accepting of FtM trans individuals. Considering that the community itself has enough transgender butches transitioning to men that they've actually given the phenomenon the name "butch flight", they are certainly going to have to deal with FtM's, and I think they do so very well. Maybe it's because there is less difference between a pre- and post-transition FtM than a pre- and post-transition MtF; FtM's are just a little more masculine than butches, and since they don't usually get bottom surgeries, they're parts are mostly the same, but MtF's often are seen as having some really big differences. Whatever the reason, I think that the lesbian community handles FtM's fairly well, although it didn't use to be the case (feminist lesbians used to ridicule and shun them for becoming part of the patriarchy, almost like traitors to the female cause).

In terms of treatment of MtF trans individuals, I think things are better, but it's still rough. Not too long ago, feminist lesbians and even not-so-feminist lesbians were very exclusive to MtF transpeople. They saw them as being men or tainted by maleness/the patriarchy even after they had transitioned, and many wouldn't touch them, saying they wanted "real women". Lesbian MtF's have had a hard time in that respect, with some places being deemed "women-born women only", effectively shutting them out. I note that nowadays, there are lots of open, accepting lesbians, but there are still those who harbor prejudices against MtF's.

I don't know much about how gay men treat transgender individuals, but I think it's roughly the same- pretty good, but sometimes bad. For FtM's, I think they're still so unknown in the gay male world that it isn't really an issue. MtF's are the bigger one, and most men are kind and accepting. I've known some idiots, though, who staunchly feel they are lowering themselves to be part of "GLBT" instead of just "G", who sneer in contempt and try to distance themselves from drag, crossdressing, and trans individuals. It's very sad, but I'm glad to note that they're in the minority.

Overall, I think the two communities about even out in their acceptance of transpeople. I can't say that one or the other is better or worse at accepting them easily and quickly.

Hope that helps.

so many questions on here that want to generalize or stereotype.. this just isn't gonna work. some lesbians accept transgenders, others don't. same thing with gays. everyone will have their own opinions based on personal values, not based on sexual orientation.

i am a pre-op M2F, and i identify myself as bisexual but mostly lesbian.. i certainly accept transsexuals as i am one and i know what they are going thru

I believe the word you mean is accept. I havn't found any real differences among groups that accept me, it depends on the person's personality and outlook far more than their orientation as to how accepting they are.
