There are the independent party, and the green party. The problem hre is that the dem's and repub's have the population convinced that they are the only two parties that can ge anything done. They also have the population convinced that voting for another party you are throwing away your vote.

The most successful was Ross Perot, of the Reform Party. But there are 3rd parties out there. It's been some years since I followed them, but I have seen some interesting 3rd party debates.

And no one has convinced us that voting 3rd party is a throwaway vote, better than Ross Perot.

There is the Libertarian party.

There are two political desires. One, the desire to do what you want to do free from government interference, and two, the desire to use government to interfere with what other people want to do.

Everyone has the first desire.

Unfortunately, few of us have relinquished the second.

Thus, we are all libertarians, but most of us are only selectively so.
