water doesnt have enough oxygen.
if you go to a fish bait store, they sell those little oxygen things, i dont remember what theyre called.
but they put the oxygen in the water so fish can survive without the moving flow of the water.
humans do not have gills either, so its practically impossible.

instead of why can't, try starting your question with how can. Something like 80% of our body is h2o. That's where all life started, and I bet it would take alot less effort adapting back to it then it did evolving from it. I mean if we can clone sheep, how long before we can trade or turn lungs into gills. Something like 96% of Earth's oxygen is produce under water, even so dolfins and whales are mammals, they breath air like us, but evolve to stay in the water. Have you seen the movie waterworld? How may we have evolved if our world was simular. In closing you're only limited to your mind.

Although i does have oxygen we do not have gills or the necessary organs to process the O2 from the H20. This makes it impossible for humans to stay underwater for too long without speciallized equipment like SCUBA gear etc.

The answer is simple. We require oxygen to breathe. The i\oxygen is absorbed by the lungs to dissolve in the blood and then be carried to the tissues for respiration. Our lungs cannot extract the little oxygen that is available in the water.
