He's obviouslly not if he hates you now. If you want people to respect you, then give him his space. He probably thinks your trying to hook up, I'd ditch too. If ya just want to stay friends maybe you should clarify that, but dont lie. I'd hit a man if he said something like that and then tried to hit on me again.
