I read about it in my "Mayo Clinic- Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy." Do you do it, or did you do it? Does the massage help in stretching?

Any other ideas for helping with the unbelievable stretching that will happen to me in the next three months?

i have done this with all my pregnancies and have to say i have never tore or need so much as 1 stitch!!
my midwife advices women to do it and i believe it works.
what harm will it do to try? if it can make having a baby & after the baby a little better it has to be worth a try.
good luck x x x x

There's actually no medical proof at all that perineal massage does anything to help the tissue stretch at the time of delivery. But if your husband wants to do it, why let him know that statistic? lol!

Get a midwife, she will massage and stretch that area with oil during delivery. Doctors dont do that.

Mine used olive oil, and I didnt tear at all. I didnt do anything before hand either.

it helps the muscles relax so they can stretch. i did it for all 4 of my pregnacies. and i didn't tear. think about it this way: do athletes not do warm ups before the big event? do they not train? of course they do to prevent injury. its the same thing here. i don't really know of anything to help with the stretching. i did alot of walking and that helped me stay comfortable and relaxed. i did this during pregancies labor and after baby. hope this helps.

I incredibly have under no circumstances heard of that the two.. you're able to be ingesting fruit by way of for the era of your being pregnant (nicely, ordinary incredibly) thinking they're severe in supplementations and coffee in energy and incorporate antioxidants! while you're calm and comfortable throughout transport it's going to be ordinary.. i've got had 2 babies and with my first i replaced into scared and youthful and my transport replaced into terrible.. my 2nd one in spite of the undeniable fact that, I made my transport room gentle and my transport replaced into speedy.. as for clean.. its a messy technique and not something you do is going to make it cleanser!!!

my midwife did it while I was in the pushing stage of labor along with some oil and I guess it worked becasue with my first daughter I tore really bad ( 18 stiches) and with the other 3 no tearing at all... ( atleast nothing that required stitches)

You don't want to speed the stretching, it will leave stretch marks. The only stretching you want is internally and if a guy told you he'd help, he only wants to cop a feel. If the Mayo Clinic endorses this, it would be on their website.
