The Police
U-2 (Joshua Tree was one of the biggest albums of the decade)
Wham (with George Michael--how 80s can you get?)
INXS
Bangles
REO Speedwagon
Hall and Oates
Culture Club
Dire Straits
Bon Jovi
Guns and Roses (1989, but still)
Solo Artists:
Prince
Tina Turner
Michael Jackson
Madonna
Whitney Houston
Billy Joel
Janet Jackson
George Michael ("Faith" in 1988 was a huge album)
Bruce Springsteen
Christopher Cross (although "Sailing" was a kind of one-hit wonder, it was huge, too)
John Cougar (Mellencamp)
Paul Simon (Graceland was one of the best albums of the decade)
And don't forget some of the huge soundtracks, like "Dirty Dancing" which was in the top 5 in 1988. The only other film soundtrack to make it that high was Prince's "Purple Rain."
There's a lot of music here--you better make 2 or 3 compilations--enjoy!

3. The Waitresses~ I know what boys like
4. Talking Heads~ Once in a Lifetime
5. Violent Femmes~ Kiss Off
6. Cyndi Lauper~ She Bop
7. Dead or Alive~ You Spin Me
8. Billy Idol~ Eyes Without a Face
9. Prince~ Kiss
10. Devo~ Whip It
11. Murray Head~ One night in Bangkok
12. Duran Duran ~ Hungry Like The Wolf
13. The Fixx~ One thing leads to another
14. Wham~ Wake me Up

Ok so those songs would be an awesome addition to any 80's mix. The saddest part is I knew all those songs from memory, lol. I guess that is what happens when you grew up in the 80's.
