I think this comes from the days when women did not get pregnant so easily. Men woke up with erections so that they could have sex with their partner the most times during the day, increasing the odds of getting pregnant.

It could be that you had a erotic dream, it could be that you need to jerk off and empty your balls, it just could be you need to use the bathroom.
