Concerning a XR200, Will a 1983 engine fit on a 1987 bike? Or is it worth rebuilding my engine?

If the cylinder head is good just re-build it, you know whats new and you learn about engines
take a look at the 'new' CRF230 for parts
A bigger carb and decent exhaust system will make life better as well

they are basically the same bike, Yes it will fit....the engines and the frames are the same......
