This will be my first time to Daytona bike week. Where can I stay that's not exspensive as I am a disabled vet on a low monthly income? Is there a small town where I can rent a room, within a 30 minute ride? Or?

Like the others said, no reservation, limited $$$ you may be camping.
The only suggestion I might make is to contact http://vnvmcsouthfla.com The Vietnam Vets MC of South Fla.
Maybe they can set you up.

"Daytona" and "not expensive" are words that can't be used in the same sentence when you're talking about Bike Week or Biketoberfest.

I suggest you check out Flagler Beach. It's a small town about 25 minutes north of Daytona, and the prices are nowhere near as bad there as they are in Daytona.

Enjoy the trip!

Pretty much heard it. Daytona Beach is not cheap during Bike Week or Biktoberfest in October. Most hotels are booked about 9 months in advance.

If you don't already have reservation for a Hotel, hang it up. You might be able to find a camp ground. Daytona is not worth it, stay home
