During the first month it wont be so bad but then during the rest of the first trimester u will feel like crap to be honest with you. The sickness will kick in somewhere between 6-8 weeks and last until the beginning of your second trimester or maybe even longer...
The first month u wont notice big changes except for cramping like your period is going to start,u may have hunger pains, gas, bloating and breast or nipple tenderness. All of these will get stronger once u hit 2-3 months or so. U are allowed to have certain fish which is very good for u and your baby but u are correct, mercury is VERY bad for your baby so make sure u check labels...prawns are a risk as they can contain harmful bacteria..make sure if u do consume them that u buy them from a good fish market and that they are cooked thoroughly before eating...Even then there could still be some risk so i wopuld try to limit them to once per month if u must have them...good luck with your pregnancy!

sickness, can start any day. Its different for everyone, and some women never have it. It was actually the worst for me early on in pregnancy 3.4.5 weeks. By the end of my first trimester, it was all gone. At this point in the first trimester it probably doesn't really feel real yet. It will get more real with each sonogram and doctor's appointment. Make sure your partner goes with you. Especially to the sonograms, this helps even reluctant parents to bond. there will be times when it is scarry, and times it is the most exciting thing that has ever happened. Its a real roller coaster, by ten weeks you are going to be dying to know what you are having but you have to wait until at least 16 and sometimes 20 or more weeks. You are also going to start wondering when you will begin to show. Some women develop a real serious pooch at 9 weeks, and some don't even look remotely preggers till 25 it depends on your body. You may be able to feel the baby around 18-20 weeks though it may be more sense this is probably your first pregnancy. And yes, I believe you can eat prawns, there are certian kinds of fish you should stay away from. shark, swordfish and maceral, i think are some of them, but my doc gave me the go ahead to eat sushi, tuna and other sea food as long as I didn't have it more than once or twice a week, so I still go out for sushi with my friend, sea food has a lot of good things in it, brain food for the baby. Just becareful and if you have any questions about whether or not something is ok, do not hesitate to call your doctor.

everyone else has mentioned possible physical symptoms. I will tell you that even though I wanted to get pregnant, when I first found out I was completely terrified. Honestly, it took me a good 1.5-2 months before I really calmed down. I worried about everything right off the bat, all the way through the next 18 years. I mean everything. From gaining weight, to getting the drivers license. Everyone told me it would get easier and that a lot of that was hormones, and it did get easier, but I really think for some of us who are older, more realistic, whatever - finding out you're pregnant isn't like what you see on tv. It really is scary, shocking, freaky, terrifying, and joyous - all at the same time. Just take it day by day and try to keep doing what you've been doing (and you'll have a lot more energy to do that in about 2 months, by the way!)

You might start getting morning sickness soon, or you may never have it. Everyone is different. A friend of mine threw up constantly for the first 3 months. I'm 15 weeks pregnant now and have only thrown up once, although I have been nauseaus off and on up until a few weeks ago. I honestly don't even know what prawns are, but if it's high in mercury, avoid it. Also, avoid deli meats (as they might have a bacteria called listeria in them which will go directly to the baby and it won't survive) unless they are heated up (which kills the bacteria). Also stay away from unpasteurized things (bleu cheese, soft cheeses).
Good luck!

Everyone reacts differently. I did not know I was pregnant until I was almost 2 months. I almost passed out one day when I was just feeling sick to my stomach after eating out. I thought I had food poisoning. Instead the ER doctor went " Surprise you're pregnant.". My other half was numb for a week, then he turned into the biggest shopper around, I had to sit on him to stop him LOL
I had morning sickness on and off, tender breasts, irritability ( tell him watch out that one stays throughout the prenancy), weepiness for the next 5 weeks until the end of my first trimester then it was gone for the rest of my pregnancy.
You might be one of the lucky ones who does not get sick at all.
Or you might just be sick al the way through, it just depends
You can eat prawns. The fish you need to stay away from are things like Tuna, king mackerel, shark or tile fish. I have included a link to the FDA website with their recommendations on what fish you can and cannot eat.
CONGRATS AND GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Well, no matter what, congratulations. Eevryone feels different during pregnancy because it is unique to the individual. Sometimes your breasts will become very tender and sore. You will notice as your progress a need to use the bathroom more. Also you may become increasingly more tired and sore. As for morning sickeness, it can come any time, morning, noon or night. It may be severe or you may not have it at all. It honestly depends on the individual. Last in regards to eating shellfish and seafood during your period, there have been studies that have shown that eating such could be bad for the health of that baby. You should be able to eat limited amount of shellfish and fish but it is necessary that they are cooked to the proper internal temperate and that none of it is eaten raw ie oysters, sushi etc. Check out the link below for what is and isn't safe.

Everyone is different, but you'll probably feel a few of these. Get ready for 24 hours of peeing (well that's what if felt like anyway). I had to pee literally every hour. It was insane! I was in the bathroom all the time for the first 3 months. I was also extremely tired...and I mean just totally exhausted for no reason at all. I would sleep all weekend, and I would close my door at work and take a nap for like an hour. That wore off after about 2.5 months. I didn't have extreme morning sickness...I would feel sick in the morning for like an hour, but I never threw up. I started to get pimples on my forhead, and my skin was really greasy (I usually have flawless skin), but that's gone now. I had all of these symptoms before I took a pregnancy test (I just knew). The first trimester was the worst...I just felt like crap (probably due to the constant fatigue). I'm 27.5 weeks now and I feel great (my stomach is huge, but its awesome)!
Here some info about pregnancy and seafood:
http://www.womenfitness.net/sea_food_preg.htm
Start taking prenatal/pregnancy vitamins...and schedule an appt with a good ob/gyn ASAP. I had the same problem w/ my boyfriend when I told him I was pregnant. He was shocked...and then totally pissed off. However your boyfriend reacts...just make sure you let him know if you intend to keep the pregnancy...that way you can know where he stands and start planning together.
Congrats...and good luck! ;)
P.S. Get professional maternity portraits done when you start to show...I just had them done...and they are so great! Plus its lots of fun! Oh and I forgot...the smell or sight of certain foods, or odors will make you want to gag. I couldn't stand the smell of vanilla candles in my first trimester (I would have a gag reflex if I thought I smell vanilla).

I personally did not even know that I was pregnant the first month of pregnancy. I found out when I was 6 weeks. I guess it depends on the individual. You may start experiencing morning sickness which I started to get around week 10

Well Congratulations! Everybody is different, but in your first month, you are likely to feel tired, have sore breasts, and possibly feel nausea. You will probably start to experience any/all of these symptoms within the next week or two. Ask your doctor how often you can eat fish. I think the general guide line is only a few times a month and absolutley no large fish.

well, every pregnancy is different for every woman. When I was pregnant I felt sick very late at night, and that's what made me test in the first place, and come to find out I was pregnant. You may suffer "morning" sickness morning, noon and night, like I did, or you may not be sick at all, like some lucky women I know. You will be overcome with emotions as you discover the joys of pregnancy. You will cry, laugh, get angry, and be overjoyed, sometimes all at once! Pregnancy is a very beautiful thing in my opinion, and you should cherish every moment, even those moments when you are leaning over a toilet bowl puking your guts out and cussing your partner for "getting you into this"! LOL.
