I didn't find out the sex but, of course, had the names picked out for both. Plus, I have made birth announcements for both sexes. It was a real treat to wait and combine the moment of actually seeing our son with knowing that he was, in fact, a boy.

We decided to wait and the moment my son was born and we found out it was a boy was so exciting! I think it bugged some of our friends and family not knowing, and we did end up with a lot of yellow and green, but none of that bothered us. It was fun throughout the pregnancy trying to guess if it was a boy or girl. People would always guess by the way I was carrying or the foods I was craving. We had everyone right down guesses on when they thought the baby would be born, the size, and the sex. It was so much fun afterward going through and seeing who was right. I am very happy with that decision. Good Luck!

I didn't mind not knowing with my first - not that he gave me much of a choice!! My little son was splayed legs in the womb, so you could quite easily tell he was a boy at 5 mths without being a professional . lol!!
My mum didn't find out with either me or my sis, she wanted a surprise, and yeah, we all had pastel colour clothes, no need for "Blue=boy, pink=girl".
I did want to find out with my second (I'm currently 30 weeks), I had a complicated high-risk pregnancy, and for some reason I wanted to know the sex to make it more personal. Strange, but worrying and stress can do that!! I'm having a little girl this time!!
I agree with one of the other answerers though!! I'd want the docs to be 100% sure - it must be awful to paint the room pink then have a boy!!
It's an unusual choice nowadays not to know the sex, but it puts a different angle on your pregnancy and a surprise at the end - congrats and good luck!

Most of the people that I know that have had babies or are currently pregnant (I'm not pg yet) have decided not to know. I think that it made things more exciting. And more natural. But that's just me. And you get an amazing surprise when you deliver too! And I find that friends and family just start guessing and make a game about it. It's your choice, and no one should have an problems with it. When you find out if it's a boy or girl (when you deliver the baby) then you can have a baby shower and people will know that you haven't bought anything gender specific to they'll have a lot of fun.

With my son (now four) I didn't find out the sex and I will not with this pregnancy. My family doesn't mind, in fact that seems to be the preference. I like the surprise. Besides, I figure if I was supposed to know the gender I would change colors or something. Just my two cents.

No, I found out at the 20 weeks ultrasound, but I'm have a 3D ultrasound (in a few weeks) to double check before I start buying anything. Everyone was disappointed that I "ruined" the surprise, but I was seriously about to burst if I didn't find out b/c I really wanted to pick out a name.

Twenty-five years ago, I decided not the learn the sex of my unborn child. What would have been the point? It wasn't like I could have changed it, and the mystery was exciting.
As a sidelight, a chief petty officer in the sick bay of my ship said that I was 'carrying low', as he put it, and predicted that I would have a boy. He was right!!

My doctor did ultrasounds at every visit, but, at my request, he never checked for gender.
When the baby was crowning, my doctor said he was certain it was a girl -- something about the ears????? -- but he was wrong! It was a very funny, beautiful moment when the rest of that little boy came into view.

Kinda on the subject. A friend of mine was told she was having a girl. We painted her room pink, bought lots of frilly dresses, ect. Then when her baby girl was born, he turned out to be a boy. I would rather not know then to prepare for the wrong gender.

I found out the sex of both of my children and plan on doing same for this one on march 12th...me and my husband both agree on knowing the sex..it gives us a better idea of things to buy, baby names, and getting ready to be a mother and father of another son or daughter..It is your choice and if this is what you choose go for it..But i just like the idea of knowing and getting ready for my little girl or boy..i think its very exciting and i cant wait to find out...good luck with your decision..,
