No.
English teaching is a fine career. I have substitute teached a few times.
Best grades to teach is 4-5 but for specifically English teaching, Junior High is ok. BTW Junior High is worse now than HS was 10-20 years ago. You can imagine what HS is like now. The kids will be good for you once you know how to deal with them. They are exposed to so much adult material these days plus parents are rediculously out of control.

No, but I've thought of becoming an English teacher both in state education and as a TEFL Teacher (ie teaching abroad) - I decided against it partly because the hours and money aren't great and partly because after finishing Uni I was sick of it.

If you are considering it my best advice would be to do some work in schools, ie as a teaching assistant or something to get some experience so that you know what you are getting into and see if it is what you really want.

I'm a primary school teacher, and love every minute of it, but this is obviously quite different to an English teacher in secondary. I have to say behaviour in most primary schools is alot to deal with at the moment, so can only guess how extreme it is in some secondary schools, but if you feel you can deal with that side, and are willing to put in alot of commitment and hard work, go for it! The good parts are amazing, and rewarding.

Hi there, I am an Italian teacher, I teach English and Italian in a vocational school in Finland. Teaching is one of the best jobs ever according to me. Personally, I feel satisfied by the end of the day ´cause I know that I´ve been spending a whole day working for a reason and not in vain.
Teaching gives me the possibility to share my knowledge, I think I am a sort of human p2p .... ;-)

It depends on the school. It can be very rewarding if you are in an academic HS in a good neighborhood. It can be pure hell if you are in a poorly run school with many behavior problems.
Be prepared to have a heavy work load with many papers to read each night and lots of lesson plans to draw up. It takes dedication.

I'm training to be an Educational Psychologist and I think the best preparation you could do is to ask yourself why you want to be a teacher, what you want to achieve and get some experience in the age phase in which you want to work in.
