Some people are too quick tempered, and thin skinned to take slurs and derogatory remarks aimed against them.

It is called hate speech, because of the emotion/motive behind what is being spewed (words are things).

If I call you derogatory words chances are I have a skewed view of you as a human being and will treat you accordingly.

It is not up to you to determine for society as a whole what is okay and what isn't. Not up for debate. People, organizations, etc. have been sued and/or brought up on criminal charges for what is stated in writing or speech. It can keep some folks in check and their mouths shut.

Some blacks use the N-word incorrectly as a term of endearment. I personally cringe when I hear people say it no matter what their ethnicity is.

it's totally different for a black person to use the n-word than it is for a white person. their using that word is kind of like a way for them to change the whole situation around---from being called that as slaves (with the "er", an important distinction between ****a, which is what black ppl sometimes refer to each other as) to them using that term as a common ground and sense of connection and, in some sense, empowerment between them. their using that word, you must admit, has changed the whole dynamic of the word. It's now used as a term of empowerment and control in a sense and not a term of hate (except for haters).

I have wondered the same thing about the use of the "N" word. As for the rest of your question, it is just human nature to get upset if someone aims a slur or epithet at you.

I don't like the "N" word regardless of who says it. I don't like redneck, cracker, honkey, sp*c, sandn*gger, ch*nc or any other words that are used to degrade another race.

Those "opinions" reflects the content of the character of the person who's saying them. And that character is NOTHING to be proud of.

As for the educated aspect...there are plenty of educated idiots who have not one ounce of decorum, class, or civility in their bodies.

So, what's to brag about...hum?
