It is the common view that Joe Montana was the best at the position. The arguments for the following, however, hold a lot of wieght:
1) Johnny Unitas
2) "Slingin'" Sammy Baugh
3) Bart Starr
but...let's be honest...it will all change next season and every season hence.

Joe Montana, he of the 4 rings(never lost a SB), 3 SB MVPs, still holds record for lifetime QB rating in SBs 127.4, most consecutive passes completed in SB, NO INTERCEPTIONS IN 122 ATTEMPTS IN ALL SUPER BOWLS PLAYED, only QB to lead a team to conference championship game in both the AFC and NFC...came back from season ending injury to be a champion, etc...now bart starr had a nice career also...5 titles including the first two super bowls (three titles in a row)...

Favre because at the end of the next season he will(I'm 99.9% sure on this)hold almost any QB record in history. To add on the that he has won the Super Bowl.
