'women trafficking' or sexual slavery exists because there are pathetic excuses for men who provide a market for it.

Legalizing 'the worlds oldest profession' might help, as would providing refugee status for any woman who manages to escape from a trafficker, and compulsory deportation of any convicted slave trader.

However since so many girls get lured by promises of good jobs in foreign countries, perhaps the best prevention would be to improve the educational and economic opportunites for women so they aren't so easily enticed into dangerous situations.

The poster above me was pretty succinct, and I agree with the first part, but not the second. I say you should put them to work in a "correctional" facility for years at the least. Male trafficking also occurs; it's just that nobody makes a big deal out of it.

Because there is a demand by men who lead pathetic lives.

Penal punishment is one way to prevent it. Impose very harsh laws on that. But the most important thing is to reduce poverty, it is a huge factor in trafficking.

Women trafficking occurs because many men are taught to objectify women; and reduce themselves to their worth in their wallet. Both sides suffer really. "There is more hunger for love and appreciation than there is hunger for bread" (BM Teresa) ... and in "Trafficing" we're seeing men hunger for love disguised as lust and women hunger for love disguised as 'career'.

Trafficing is big from Mexico, S. America, Vietnam, Cambodia, Tyland, & Phillipains. The USA can do more along the Boarder to help the women, but the other countries are out of our control. However, we can put limit restrictions on our citizens. But ah, John Marks (the dude who claimed to kill Jon Benette) ... well, he's living proof that we've lost too much control.

I guess a campagne like the one against tabbaco would be best --- slowly encroach problem area's without huge media or dangerious to trigger warning to the addicts who control this business. Feminism has almost forgot curing the man ... and this is a very important part of solivng this problem ... spend as much time and energy on fixing the men. Equality right?

Just look at the high divorce rates. What chance do you think has a 30 40+ man to land himself a woman, when a lot of the singel women in his age group are set with children, house alimony, child support and he himself has hardly money at his disposal because of his obbligations ? Add to the mix the men who live in sexless marriages the men who are afraid of beeing accused for rape if they have sex the men who are afraid of getting std or the like and demand a health certificate from the woman prior to sex (try to get that from a date you can demand to see one in an expensive brothel) the men who refuse to marry because of the divorce laws and there you got yourself a pretty high demand.
How to stop it ? Prostitution was a lot lower when we had stabel marriages and wifes willing to put up with the sexual needs of theis husbands and vice versa. The best way to prevent it would be to reinforce marriages or at least relationships and tell women that they should not need to feel exploited for cathering to the sexual needs of the men in their lifes.
Punishments on eithier side wont do much. If we would ban abortion would it stop abortion ? The hoes sure are not going to sue their clients and besides cops and judges have wifes with "headaches" at home too, so the only way to really make a difference is to create a society where a mans needs are taken seriously and fulfilling them is not seen as a burden or opressive or demeaning.

It's profitable. Also most girls are taken from places like Vietnam and Cambodia and forced to work as sex slaves which is wrong. There's also women like the chick who got kidnapped in Aruba a few years back who is probably in a sex ring which means she'll never be found as they kill and beat you if you try to escape. Don't let the women go out without their fathers and husbands and this won't happen.
