2) Can i download any verison or does it depend on my video card? if so can someone please explain how i can tell that my video card can have such verison of dirext x.?

I believe that you just need the latest version and all the older ones are included.

1)you can download the latest direct x runtime files from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.mspx
2)you should download the latest version that microsoft publish,as if you graphic card only supports direct x 8 then your card will only use the direct 8 files
the latest direct x download will have every direct x version in the download,what you will notice when you update direct x is it will usually say"updating direct x files you need"
3)you can download a older version but as the latest version will have these older direct version as part of the download this wont be nessecary
the oldest version i have seen for download is direct x 6

2. When you go to download directx, the website should automatically choose the best version of directx for your computer.
3. If you want to download an older version you will have to search around on google for it.
