I will be going on my first cruise in May. We are going to Ocho Rios, Jamaica and Georgetown, Grand Cayman. Can anyone share their experience with me? Im kind of nervous, but very excited. Any pointers and anything I should know first. Also, its my first plane flight and I think Im more excited about it than the cruise. I have always wanted to fly. Your experiences and opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Once you have taken off and landed for the first time, your nervousness about flying generally should pass. And you have a lovely cruise to look forward to, when you will be spoilt rotten on board and have great shore excursions. Be sure to take lots of sunscreen and a hat. Ocho Rios and Grand Cayman are both very hot. Go to the Dunns River Falls, whatever you do, but unless you are very adventurous by nature, I would not encourage you to don rubber shoes and climb up all those rocks to the falls. You can have just as good a time (or better!) simply walking down the steps to the beach below and admiring nature's splendour on dry land! At Grand Cayman the main things for you will be the town centre at George Town and the Seven Mile Beach. I always advise people to go into the post office and Elmslie Church to admire the ceilings. They were both constructed by a boat builder and as that is what he knew about his ceilings were always upturned boats! There's good shopping in town. Do cover up while in Grand Cayman, both because of the sun and also because tourists who go about in a state of undress cause great offence locally. But take your swimming costume with you to enjoy the Caribbean! Enjoy, enjoy!

You are going to have a wonderful time! Flying is so easy and on clear days the view from above is amazing. There are thousands of people in the air every minute of the day so relax. The worst part is going through security at the airport. Long lines make it trying.

I was near Ocho Rios last summer and will recommend a couple of shore excursions. First, Dunns River Falls is a must. Everyone who goes there has to do that. It is spectacular. Bring your water shoes because there are many small stones that will hurt your feet while you climb it. Or you can rent shoes there but if you have water shoes bring them along.

If you like more adventure type of activities check out Chukka Cove. They have bicycle tours, ATV riding, horseback riding, a jungle canopy tour, and more. We did the canopy tour and it was incredible. It is a zip line trip through the tree tops down the mountain. I saw the same course we went on at one of the internet video sites (like YouTube but that doesn't seem like the right one).

You can check TripAdvisor.com to find attractions in the areas where you will be. You can also check that site for cruise information. Information at that site is written by previous travelers so it is not published by the cruise companies. It can be a tremendous tool for planning a vacation. It sounds like you are going to have a great adventure. Enjoy!!

Hi

First Cruise!!!? Kind of nervous and anxious?

Have you ever heard people complaining about a vacation that went wrong? You probably have, and would like to prevent that from happening to your cruise. To ensure that you’ll have a 100% good time, you need to make a small effort and review the details of different cruise options, as well as the type of passengers they are likely to attract. It’ll take you some time to decide, but in the end you’ll be embarking on a cruise that best matches your interests and you’ll have higher chances to find friends among the other passengers

The best source of advise should come from expert who have gone through years of searching, studying and scouring hundreds of websites, stores and magazines. Check out this "Super Cruise Guide". at
