APA stands for American Psychological Association. The APA Manual is used extensively for people to use as a format guideline for writing research papers. It is very popular because it is so user friendly. I recommend you purchase a soft cover copy (around $16) and keep it handy. If you attend college you will have reason to use the manual quite often. Good luck.

American Psychological Association. I assume that you will be writing a paper in the APA format. Not to be rude, but you would be better off using a search function by simply typing "APA". You'll be able to find a number of online guides to writing in the APA fromat.

I'm not sure what you are asking. Are you asking how to do it or how to format it? In law school we use the FIRAC system to brief a case. That stands for (Facts, Issue, Rule, Analysis, Conclusion). We give a little bit of pertinent factual background; then state what the issue is, i.e. why someone is suing someone, (it usually begins with the word "whether"); then the rule of law, which is either prior case precedent language, or a statute; then we apply the current facts to the rule; and then we state what the court's holding was. If you are writing it in a real case brief that you file with the court then we use the ALWD format. Not APA or anything else. And that would be completely different than what I've done below here. Here is an example of a fake case law brief. Facts: John Doe has a friend Jane Smith over to his house. He has a dog that doesn't like it when people come towards it. John never told Jane this and when Jane came over to visit, she attempted to pet the dog, and it severely attacked her. Jane required many stitches and suffered nerve damage. Issue: Whether Jon Doe was negligent when he didn't warn his guest, Jane Smith, of his dangerous dog, and whether he is liable for the damages Jane suffered. Rule: Person is negligent if the occurrence was forseeable, that resulted in the injury and the owner failed to take corrective action. If so, the owner will be deemed negligent for not having taken steps to prevent the harm. Analysis: The owner knew his dog was dangerous and didn't warn an unsuspecting guest of the dogs propensity to attack people when they attempt to pet it. It is also foreseeable that Jane would pet it. Conclusion: John is liable to Jane for his negligence. This was totally fake and a real negligence case would be far more complex requiring each element to be met, i.e., duty, breach, causation, and damages. I kind of jumbled that all together here to save time.

APA stands for "American Psychological Association," I believe. Since psychologists do tons of research, the APA adopted standards years ago for the reporting of research data and papers. As for format, just google "APA formatting" and search the sites brought up. Here's one:

But don't limit yourself to just this one.
