ive been taking the female contraceptive injection Depo Provera for the last 15 months and since taking it i have had just one period soon after my first injection, recently i have put on a lot of weight which i know is a side effect or can be of the drug but ive gained 11 pounds and i also am beginning to feel nausious, and i have been getting more and more fatigued i have no energy, also i find that some smells of certain foods make me feel sick where they never used to bother me, are these symptoms usual or is it possible that i can be pregnant, i did do a pregnancy test about 3 weeks ago but it was negative, and i cant really explain the weight gain because i do not over eat and i take regular exercise, if there are any people out there who can give me some help and advice it will be very much appreaciated.

if you have been taking the injection Depot Provera correctly once in 3 months , for the past 15 months, it is unlikely that you are pregnant, in spite of the fact that you have had only one period. because, 1. absence of periods is quite common with the injections 2. you have taken the pregnancy test and it is negative--rate of pregnancy with Depot Provera is very, very low. 0.3% 3. weight gain is to be expected after the Injection,4. your symptoms such as nausea, and fatigue may be due to gastrointestinal or general metabolic problems, for the correction of which you need to consultyour doctor.

Contraceptives make you gain weight on average about 5 pounds a year. Watch your calorie intake and activity level and you can shead those extra pounds.

Go get a pregnancy test at the doctors office. You might of had a false-negative result. I know when I was pregnant, smells set me off, too.

I would reccommend you see a doctor!

Depo does cause weight gain; but, you state that you ahve been taking hte hsot for 15 monts now---the weight gain should have ceased by now.

There could be other reasons that you are having nausea and vomiting etc.

The best advice is to see a doctor is the pregnancy test was negative!

See a doctor right away.If you are pregnant the contraceptive can hurt the baby.Doctors have other methods of finding out.It may be one of those cases.
