People-pleasers will agree to do things that they don't even have the abillity to do simply because they don't want to say no. In other cases, I think people want to do good, they intend to do what they promise, but just fall short. At the time of the promise, that is really their priority, but when the time comes to follow through on that promise, something else has entered into their life and it is no longer the priority.

Good question. Im really not sure, but i think its so they dont have to face reality. You know, they just tell you they promise to do something, fully knowing deep down that they arent going to just to "shut you up". im not sure if im making much sense here, & im sorry if im not. I cant really explain it though.

Trying to give them the benefit of the doubt: sometimes when people WANT to do something badly enough, they overestimate their ability to follow through.
