Depends what you mean by recent...I think the Saw series is really good, and The Ring 1 and 2 were both excellent movies. Movies that have just been released recently I would def have to say The Messengers.

grudge 2 is not scary at all, and not a very impressive attempt.
The Messengers is very good.
