Well, if you have never wakeboarded or anything, snowboarding is way harder. I had never __________boarded anything before I learned, and the first two days, were, well, hell. My butt hurt, every muscle in my legs killed, my arms were tired from falling.

With skiing, you can fly down hills and you do a lot of that bouncing stuff. With boarding, you go slower and movements are larger in respect to the hill size, but you can do cooler tricks.

Now that I learned to board, I have a lot more fun than I did when I skiied.

Moral, if you want to just go out and have some fun with friends for a day, SKI! If you want to really learn something and do tricks, take up snowboarding and put in the efforts.

Skiing Vs Snowboarding Difficulty

Well thats a hard one to answer because yes skiing is easier to learn but its hard to master while snowboarding is hard to learn easy to master. Since u seem to think snowboarding is easy it might be alittle harder to ski because ur body is use to going in a certain direction. also contrary to what people say on here u can stop mid hill without sitting down I do it all the time while teaching. I have tried skiing and i didn't feel as free on a ski than on a snowboard but I know plenty of snowboarder feel skiing is better and plenty of skier feel snowboarding is way better. The true choice is up to u. If u like the powder than i recommend snowboarding if u are after speed both work fine for that and if u want to hit the rough terrain like moguls then go for skiing the true answer is your will have to decide. Its sad u will only go alittle bit because if u lived near the snow like me you could try out both and really pic what is best for you.

I was in the same place as you when I started, I went snowboarding a couple times and LOVED it. Sure, you fall down some, and you need to sit on your butt sometimes, but I couldn't fathom anything more fun. My parents finally convinced me to give skiing a shot, and I have never even touched a snowboard since. You rarely fall, in comparison, and at the expert level there's so much more you can do on skis (though there's not much expert terrain in Australia). But things like moguls, I absolutely love moguls on skis, they suck on a board. You feel much more free on skis, as weird as it sounds, and you can actually stand up when you stop =p At the highest level, though not always true, but typically, I find it comes down to one thing: If you love snow riding because you're outside, in the snow on a mountain, and there's nothing like feeling the wind in your face... you're a skier If you want to sit around and socialize with your buds all day, and not necessarily get as much time actually going down the hill... you're a snowboarder

I would say that snowboarding is easyier to learn the basics than skiing as when you are first learning you never really go into the fall line and your board is always on an edge be it either toe or heel edge so its really easy to brake if you feel you are going too fast, therefore you build up confidence quicker through feeling you have control of the board. As far as which is the most difficult to master i would say they are both equally difficult.

I skied for 7 years and have boarded for 15 years. Skiing is much easier to start and learn the beginner stuff, most anyone can pop on two planks and go down the hill. The beginner boarding progression is alot longer and more painful, I personally think it takes alot longer to become an advanced rider than it does skiing.

I'm bi-snow I do both. I learned to ski first 20 years ago and last year decided to try boarding. Both are very different. Your movements are way different. Several people I know are ''former'' skiers who are now strictly boarders. It depends on individual tastes and skill levels. But if you aren't in good shape then consider getting in shape fast cause boarding does work you out.
